Are there services you don’t offer?
We do not perform the following evaluations or offer these services:
What time should I arrive for my first appointment?
We advise you arrive 30 minutes before your appointment time as this helps you fill out some paperwork and fill out forms like releases, Questionnaires, and COB forms. To make this easier, you can print out the forms and fill them out before coming to the office.
Also, remember to bring along your insurance card and identification card.
We don't accept checks and the American Express credit card.
Beacon Health/Value Options plans require COB - Coordination of Benefits to be completed with them.
What payment type do you accept?
We accept most credit cards and cash. However, we don't accept checks and American Express.
Does my insurance cover my visit?
Our staff is dedicated to ensuring your visit is as easy as possible. They are friendly, concerned, and skilled in working with our contracted insurers to check benefits, co-pays, and deductibles. They can help clarify the amount of co-pay before your visit and will bill the insurance company directly. If you don’t have insurance or decide not to use your insurance plan, contact our office for affordable self-pay rates. Please note we do not bill secondary insurance.
Can a new patient get a same-day appointment?
Same-day appointments are not available to new patients unless there's a cancellation. Please call accordingly.
What age brackets do you treat?
We treat patients within the age bracket of 18-60 years.
How do I get Prior Authorization on my Medications?
Once your Pharmacist informs you that medication is not covered, they can fax the information to the doctor's office. Some pharmacies will use a company, COVERMYMEDS, which simplifies the prior authorization process. There might be forms that may need to get filled out by the treating physician. Your doctor will fill out the forms and fax them to the insurance.
It may take few hours to 4 weeks for the medication to get approved, depending on the insurance policy. We advise you call your insurance directly to help with expediting the PA process. Your insurance may require that you try medications on a formulary or may not cover the medications. Your doctor may have to try alternative medications or send an appeal letter to the insurance.
To get a Prior Authorization(PA), please call your insurance company and talk to the pharmacists as benefits are only paid if the medications have been pre-approved by the insurance company.
Which conditions do you treat?
We specialize in treating a range of health conditions which include, but not limited to:
What do I do if I have an emergency?
Our office is set up to help patients who are reasonably safe and not agitated or under the influence. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide crisis services or detoxification at this clinic.,
We do not accept unscheduled visits, same-day appointments, or walk-in appointments, or else there is a cancellation. Therefore, in a case where you have a health emergency that cannot wait for your next appointment, we advise that you do any of the following:
How do I get a Referral to see a Psychotherapist?
To get a psychotherapist referral, please ask your psychiatrist during your appointment. Please note some insurances like TRICARE require a referral from your primary care doctor. You must check with your insurance if your psychotherapist is in-network.
My doctor has recommended that I take an antidepressant, but I don’t have depression. I have anxiety. Why is this the treatment she wants me to use? Why can't I take Xanax Valium or Clonazepam?
The antidepressants SSRI and SNRI are used to treat different conditions, including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and Bulimia. Using this medication class is the first-line choice for treating an anxiety condition, whether or not there were also depressive symptoms. Benzodiazepines like Xanax medications can be used short term; however, they have side effects, the potential for addiction, and are not recommended for long term use.
What is your appointment change policy?
Changes to your appointment would require 48 hours advance notice for appointments on Tuesday through Friday. Changes to Monday (or Tuesdays following a Monday holiday) appointments require notification by 12 noon on the Friday BEFORE the appointment. Failure to keep a scheduled appointment will attract a charge of $50 on the scheduled appointment. Continued missed appointments and poor compliance may result in termination.
What am I to expect on my first appointment?
During your first session, you will get to understand what prompted you to see the Dr. We don’t judge your actions or your reasons for seeking support. Questions are always intended to give a better understanding of your background, your current situation, and your status emotionally. You can bring any records of prior psychiatric treatment along.
Do you only see patients with specific psychiatric conditions?
No! In fact, most of our patients are healthy adults with active family lives and thriving careers. We act as a compassionate backbone for those who need additional support and emotional help during different transitions or challenges in life, such as life struggles, career change, family and work balance, fertility issues, personal growth, marriage, and relationship issues. Dr. Gupta will prescribe medications if needed during transitions and refer you to see an appropriate psychotherapist to work on issues.
