How can I contact my provider?
You can contact your provider by filling out and sending the Contact Form. This form is a convenient way to ask specific questions for non-urgent and routine matters. It is not intended for emergencies. For urgent matters, please call our office directly. In case of an emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. For administrative requests, such as scheduling appointments, please use the contact form on our website to send us a message.
Are there services you don’t offer?
We do not perform or offer the following evaluations and services:
What time should I arrive for my first appointment?
Please arrive 30 minutes before your appointment time to fill out necessary paperwork such as releases, questionnaires, and COB forms. To save time, you can fill out the forms online. Remember to bring your insurance card and identification card if you haven't attached them to the online form.
What payment types do you accept?
We accept most credit cards and cash. However, we do not accept checks or American Express.
Does my insurance cover my visit?
Our staff is dedicated to making your visit as easy as possible. They will work with our contracted insurers to check benefits, co-pays, and deductibles. They can clarify the amount of your co-pay before your visit and will bill the insurance company directly. If you don’t have insurance or decide not to use your insurance plan, contact our office for affordable self-pay rates. Please note, we do not bill secondary insurance.
Can a new patient get a same-day appointment?
Same-day appointments are not available for new patients unless there's a cancellation. Please call accordingly.
What age brackets do you treat?
We treat patients aged 18-60 years.
How do I get Prior Authorization on my medications?
If your pharmacist informs you that a medication is not covered, they can fax the information to our office. Some pharmacies use COVERMYMEDS to simplify the prior authorization process. There might be forms that need to be filled out by the treating physician. Your doctor will fill out the forms and fax them to the insurance. It may take a few hours to 4 weeks for the medication to get approved, depending on the insurance policy. We advise you to call your insurance directly to help expedite the PA process. Your insurance may require you to try medications on a formulary or may not cover the medications. Your doctor may have to try alternative medications or send an appeal letter to the insurance. To get a Prior Authorization (PA), please call your insurance company and talk to the pharmacists, as benefits are only paid if the medications have been pre-approved by the insurance company.
Which conditions do you treat?
We specialize in treating a range of health conditions including, but not limited to:
What do I do if I have an emergency?
Our office is set up to help patients who are reasonably safe and not agitated or under the influence. We do not provide crisis services or detoxification at this clinic. We do not accept unscheduled visits, same-day appointments, or walk-in appointments unless there is a cancellation. If you have a health emergency that cannot wait for your next appointment, we advise you to:
How do I get a referral to see a psychotherapist?
To get a psychotherapist referral, please ask your psychiatrist during your appointment. Note that some insurances, like TRICARE, require a referral from your primary care doctor. Check with your insurance if your psychotherapist is in-network.
My doctor has recommended that I take an antidepressant, but I don’t have depression. I have anxiety. Why is this the treatment she wants me to use? Why can't I take Xanax, Valium, or Clonazepam?
Antidepressants like SSRIs and SNRIs are used to treat various conditions including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and bulimia. These medications are the first-line choice for treating anxiety, whether or not there are also depressive symptoms. Benzodiazepines like Xanax can be used short term but have side effects, a potential for addiction, and are not recommended for long-term use.
What is your appointment change policy?
Changes to your appointment require 48 hours advance notice for appointments on Tuesday through Friday. Changes to Monday (or Tuesdays following a Monday holiday) appointments require notification by 12 noon on the Friday before the appointment. Failure to keep a scheduled appointment will result in a $50 charge. Continued missed appointments and poor compliance may result in termination.
What am I to expect at my first appointment?
During your first session, you will discuss what prompted you to see the doctor. We don’t judge your actions or reasons for seeking support. Questions are intended to better understand your background, current situation, and emotional status. You can bring any records of prior psychiatric treatment.
Do you only see patients with specific psychiatric conditions?
No! Most of our patients are healthy adults with active family lives and thriving careers. We provide support and emotional help during transitions or challenges in life, such as career changes, family and work balance, fertility issues, personal growth, marriage, and relationship issues. Dr. Gupta will prescribe medications if needed during transitions and refer you to an appropriate psychotherapist.
